Buenos Aires City

Buenos Aires is one of the 25 favorite cities for Spanish people, according to the browser Skyscanner.

Skyscanner is internationally considered among the main browsers of Europe for its power and flexibility. It allows you to compare updated prices.

The trend in trips shows that Buenos Aires and New York are the most required in no European destinations. Buenos Aires is nº 19, and New York is nº 22. One of the explanations is how the city developed a good positioning strategy in Europe, specially in Spain, the organization of the Rally 2010 got a big amount of tourists from all over the world. You will enjoy it again in 2011, January, Tango’s worldcup, and some other activities such as cultural, food industry, etc…

Spain represents for Buenos Aires city the first European outgoing tourism market and, although the economic spanish difficulties, it shows how our city is increasingly attractive for travelers who choose far away destinations.

The History of the Republic of La Boca

The Republic of La Boca

The Italian immigrants who left their shores at the end of the XIX century and at the beginning of the XX century in search of a better future, settled in what is called “La Boca del Riachuelo”, literally meaning the mouth of the river. They decided to form a republic in our country. In 1882 a group of Italian immigrants got together in the Italian Society to form an independent country, since the state did not have the right to rule over the Italian population nor La Boca.

After writing an act informing the King of Italy, they declared this territory “The Republic of La Boca” and hoisted the Genovese flag.

The dream of these immigrants was short lived. The Argentine president Julio Roca arrived in La Boca, where he lowered the flag and cut short this revolution.

After all this chaos, one of the streets in the neighborhood was named Roca after the president.
