Boca Junior vs River Plate.

Super-classic Boca Junior vs River Plate.

Thousands of tourists come to stay in Buenos Aires only to see this super - classic match than it can be missed, every season.

This Oct. 19 will host a new Argentinean super classic match, the two largest teams of Argentina will face again, this time in the stadium of River the “Monumental” and for the “Torneo Apertura 2008”.

This event is so spectacular and exciting, is being said out there that “you can not die without see the super - classic.” Not only because the lesson of these two football teams but for the spectacle offered by the “hinchas” and the “cantitos” the fans sing making a mockery toward the other and demonstrating the great rivalry.

On the side of the Boca fans we have nicknamed “hinchada” the “12″, because they are seen as the player number 12. It is also often called “half plus one” because more than half the country is a sympathizer of this club.

In contrast River are named “Millionarios” because their stadium is located in a residential area of Buenos Aires, the “hinchada” nickname is “borrachos del tablon.”

As for the history while Boca has 22 titles River has 34 and is the club that was more titles in Argentina but Boca has 18 international titles and River only 5.

Buenos Aires a Pecha Kucha Night…

Filed under: buenos aires, buenos aires guided tours, events — admin at 7:31 pm on Friday, June 20, 2008

City Cultural Konex presents the ninth edition of Pecha Kucha Night.

Being lodged in an apartment I found out that the play Pecha Kucha Night was being played in Buenos Aires. It started in 2003 in Japan under a simple formula:

Inviting a group of creative from different disciplines to share their ideas and experiences in just 6’ 40’’ through 20 images displayed for 20 seconds each.

Pecha Kucha means “chit chat” in Japanese and that’s exactly what happen once presentations are completed by the speakers: present people come together to exchange their views in a relaxed and playful environment.

The Japanese architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham are the creators of this space that seeks interaction among innovative creative with different profiles.

The story of PKN began in Tokyo in 2003 and rapidly expanded by major world capitals (London, Berlin, Los Angeles, Sydney, Shanghai, New York, etc.).

Presented by City Cultural Konex on Tuesday June 24 at 20 pm; Sarmiento St. in 3131, Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Tickets: $ 15 advance - $ 20 at door

Buenos Aires Domes

Filed under: buenos aires, buenos aires guided tours, events — admin at 4:05 pm on Monday, June 2, 2008

We invite you to Discover Buenos Aires architecture in their most varied styles and eras, in buildings that give the landscape a dye staff to the environment, is the purpose of this show.
The dome has had a very important role in the construction of churches, temples, palaces, etc. At its origin was not a whim or a demonstration of opulence of ostentation, but a symbolic architectural element.

The dome was chosen as the ending for its “expressive force”; becoming not only a recognizable symbol of the city, but also of the sumptuousness of the Argentinean bourgeoisie; elite that in the cultural, rejected local traditions, so is not curious to see highlight the influence of European culture in Buenos Aires architecture as a whole. As, if we enumerate the architects who designed buildings of Buenos Aires between the XIX and XX centuries, we see that any of Holland, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Scandinavia, Spain, Russia, England, Poland, etc. managed to capture a spirit romantic landscape, as well as give a masterfully magnificent architectural work.

These works were collected by a photo researcher who accumulates an amount of approximately 350 images of domes. The proposal is, from this photographic work, latent maintain the spirit of this heritage that belongs to us all and requires us to your care, your attention and above all, respect for those with their ability and talent, designed and built these works of architectural art, for our City of Buenos Aires.

The inauguration of the sample will be the May 22 to 19 hours and will remain open until June 22, Monday through Friday from 14 to 18 hours and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 to 19 hours.
Free entry Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays general entry $ 1.-
